Concrete Jungle

IMG_1341

When I came up with the concept for this look and put it together, I thought to myself where in the city should I shoot this. Being a resident of New York for two years now and there’s still so much I have yet to explore. It then clicked in my head how dope my own neighborhood is. With my own eyes I have seen the effects of gentrification in Brooklyn but Bedstuy still holds so much culture. Walking to the train in the morning, I always see different people with different jobs, wearing different items that catch my eye. This concrete jungle is home to many hustlers and go-getters. While you’re getting closer to your goals, make sure you look fly doing it.

My two favorite pieces of this look are the camo army jacket and the two-toned high-waisted jeans. From Manhattan to Brooklyn, there are a variety of thrift store but one many people have recommended I go to was L Train Vintage. They have a few locations in Brooklyn, so during some free time I had I decided to pay it a visit; boy am I glad I did. This camo jacket, for only $10, was one of many gems I found while there. I even thought about going back to get another camo jacket because I want to do a DIY project with it, but we will see. It’s oversized and a perfect piece for your closet. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I love H&M’s jeans. Since I’m 5’10 and they have jeans with longer inseams, they always work for me. 90% of the jeans in my closet are from H&M and they have NEVER ripped on me. *knocks on wood*. This two-tone affect and high-waist style is extremely important because it helps to show off your curves perfectly!
