What happened to me the other day is definitely blog post worthy. I have mentioned before, I am a HUGE Travis Scott fan! From him to his music, he’s literally everything in my eyes. His lyrics with his raspy voice, with or without auto-tone, is simply amazing! When his second album, “Birds In The Trap Sing Brian McKnight” I was already expecting nothing but greatness and that’s exactly what I got! With features from Kid Cudi, Andre 3000, and Bryson Tiller, just to name a few, I haven’t been able to go a day without listening to the album.
The moment I found out Travis Scott would be featured as one of the covers for Paper Magazine’s October issue, I knew I had to get a copy; there were no if, ands, buts about it! I recently told someone I hadn’t bought a magazine in forever. I always read articles online. Whenever I would go to Paper Magazine’s website, Travis Scott’s cover was sold out. With hundreds of newsstands all around NYC you would think I’d be able to find the magazine somewhere but it wasn’t that easy. For almost a week, every newsstand I went to had older issues of Paper Magazine, but not the one I was looking for.
On a very rainy morning, I was in the mood for doughnuts but not just any type of doughnuts, churro doughnuts from Doughnuttery. Someone recently let me try them and they were the most amazing doughnuts I had ever tasted in my life. I googled were the closest location was to my job and made my way there. Now, I’m not sure if I was so irritated by the rain, I was sleep deprived, or extremely hungry, maybe a combination of the three but I couldn’t find Doughnuttery! I was sad because that’s all I really wanted and I don’t ask for much, so while my shoes were soaking wet and my stomach was growling, I walked past a newsstand and the first thing that caught my eye was a pink magazine cover. I ran over and saw Travis Scott’s face and was reassured that everything happens for a reason. I know the guy at the newsstand thought I was a weirdo by how excited I was but he gave a me a fresh, new magazine and I went on about my day with a big smile.
I’m not quite sure what it is but while reading Travis Scott’s article a spark of inspiration came about. He’s just super creative, working hard, and we are the same age! In his photos, he wore a range of brands from Givenchy to Supreme to Alexanader Wang and Adidas. He spoke about listening to Kid Cudi for the first time and I promise I felt the same exact way. Cudi’s music has truly influenced a bunch of artist, saved people’s lives, and helped others get through this crazy thing we call life. Travis Scott also talked about his upcoming collaboration with a fashion brand, which is still unknown to the world but will be released in February. I could only imagine who he’s teamed up with but I’m extremely anxious to see the results! I don’t want to go into too much detail about his article because I want you to go read it!
