Only a handful of times have I listened to Travis Scott’s solo music. Auto tone and even his regular raspy voice has intrigued me. I’ve jammed to songs he has been featured on but after hearing from friends how good his album Rodeo was I had to go into Apple Music and listen; I’m glad I did! This is a dope album for sure. He has features from Schoolboy Q, Kanye West, Future, 2 Chainz, Justin Bieber, Chief Keef and many more. Just the guest appearances shows the wide variety of type of artists he has on the album. My favorite songs are “3500”, “Antidote, “Ok Alright”, and “90210”.
Love love love Jay Rock! He’s under TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) and has features on his album from some of my favorite artists who are extremely talented and also his label-mates with Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, SZA, and Isaiah Rashad. This is his sophomore studio m album and as you can guess the title of his album comes from the zip code of Watts, Los Angeles, CA. Everytime Jay Rock is on a track he kills it! His verse on “Money Trees” on Kendrick Lamar’s first album will always be one of my favorites. My favorite song on the album, without any questions or hesitations, is “Vice City”. The beat and the song just goes so hard it’s crazy! It features Black Hippy, which includes Jay Rock himself, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Schoolboy Q.
I think everybody was anxiously waiting for this mixtape to drop at 8pm last night. I was out and my phone died but when I finally got home around 10pm I called my friend to see if he had listened to it yet. He not Future fan like I am so when he said Drake snapped on the whole mixtape and Future could have sat this one out I thought he was just being a hater. Future is the only reason I’ll listen to trap music. His lyrics and beats are always catchy. Well I hopped right on Apple Music and tuned in. Ultimately I thought, Drake & Future? This mixtape is going to be crazy but I wasn’t that impressed. There are a handful of great songs I can nod my head to but a few I just want to skip right past. I need to listen to the mixtape all the way through because then I’ll know for sure how I feel about it.
